The Energy Information Expert

Welcome to FASER.com, the home of FASER Energy Accounting Software

December 2010 marked the end of a distinguished 30-year career for FASER Energy Accounting Software. Following its initial development in 1980, FASER quickly became the industry-leading utility bill tracking and energy reporting software for PCs. FASER recorded such firsts as:

  • First measurement and verification module (in 1985) for the calculation of the cost avoidance attributable to energy performance contracts.
  • First PC-based utility rate schedule analysis engine (in 1987) to calculate the “what if” scenarios of rate changes.
  • First Accounts Payable interface (in 1991) to streamline utility bill auditing and processing.
  • First Benchmarking module to share energy analytics across a business or government enterprise.

FASER Expiration

In 2001, Enron (the owner of FASER at the time) provided all licensed users with FASER validation codes to December 2010 (the furthest future date the system allowed). Today, FASER system modifications are not possible. The development tools used in the 1990s are no longer available and are incompatible with current versions of Windows and other components.

In 2005 and 2006, numerous attempts were made via mail, email, and phone to inform FASER users that FASER would retire. In addition, all support would be discontinued on 12/31/2006. At that time, FASER became a legacy product. Then in December 2010, due to a limitation in the software code, FASER bill entry became inoperable.

To continue using the energy data in FASER, there is a solution—upgrade to EnergyCAP®.

Upgrade from FASER to EnergyCAP

EnergyCAP, Inc. offers the only certified FASER data conversions. EnergyCAP Energy Management Software was developed by the same team that created FASER, and thanks to the experience gained over decades of use by thousands of clients, EnergyCAP is far more powerful and easier to use. EnergyCAP is providing an Expedited Upgrade Service with exclusive database to database FASER conversions.

No other company provides direct database conversions; they all rely on Microsoft Excel and Access exports. Only EnergyCAP has the database tools to seamlessly transfer data from FASER’s obsolete database to EnergyCAP’s SQL Server platform. These tools were developed in 2003 when EnergyCAP succeeded FASER.

The first step in upgrading from FASER to EnergyCAP is to contact our Upgrade Sales Team.

Expedited Upgrade Service

In just ten business days, we will convert your FASER database, and provide you with the latest web-based interface. From there, users can upgrade to EnergyCAP Enterprise, a powerful version for large organizations with complex energy tracking needs, or to EnergyCAP Express, a fully online version for smaller organizations. EnergyCAP Express pricing starts at just $49.95 per month (a free, no obligation 30-day trial is available).

Both versions of EnergyCAP offer utility bill tracking, energy and greenhouse gas analysis, auditing, benchmarking, reporting, automatic submittal to ENERGY STAR, and degree day weather comparisons.

Additional time may be needed to convert and accommodate any specialty functions such as A/P and metering system interfaces, submeter formulas, rate schedules, and cost avoidance calculations. However, we can get you up and running with basic bill entry and data reporting on an expedited basis. Contact our Upgrade Sales Team today.
